Lieutenant Colonel Roshun Steele

LTC Roshun A. Steele was born in Jackson, Mississippi. LTC Steele is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Robinson. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi where she received her commission as a distinguished military student through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (R.O.T.C.) in August 2000. She also holds a Master’s in Education from Strayer University.
LTC Steele began her military career by enlisting in the United States Army Transportation Corps in September of 1995. She completed Basic and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a Motor Transport Operator (88M) at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri.
Her military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLC3), Mobilization and Deployment Planner Course, Company Trainer Course, Unit Movement Officer Course, Joint Planner Course, and Support Operations Course. LTC Steele attended Intermediate Level Education (ILE) at the Commanding General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas graduating December 2010. She also attended the University Senior Leader Course at Fort Knox, KY Cadet Command.
LTC Steele’s assignments include platoon leader and company Executive Officer for 331st Transportation Company (Causeway), 6th Transportation Battalion Fort Eustis, Virginia. LTC Steele’s first deployment was in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I as the Battalion S-1 for 6th Transportation Battalion. In addition to her time at Fort Eustis she also served as Assistant S-1, for 7th Transportation Group. Following the deployment she was assigned to 3-335th Training Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade 85th Division Fort Sheridan, Illinois as an Observer Controller/ Trainer and Transportation Team Chief. LTC Steele continued her career serving as the Support Operation Transportation Officer, for HHC, 603d Aviation Support Battalion and Brigade S-4, Combat Aviation Brigade Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. During LTC Steele’s second deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-11 she successfully commanded Echo Company 1-10 ATK and served as the Brigade S-4, for 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division. LTC Steele was the Battalion Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer for 501st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division Fort Bliss, TX. She also served as the Brigade S-4, HHC, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12-13 in Regional Command South RC(S). Most recent LTC Steele served as the J5 Support Planner for the Canadian Joint Operations Command in Ottawa, ON Canada. She is currently serving as the Professor of Military Science at Auburn University in Auburn, AL.
Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
LTC Roshun Steele is married to Michael Steele and resides in Auburn, AL with their sons Myles and Myron.
