Mr. Paul West

MAJ Paul B. West is a 1982 graduate of Waterloo High School, Waterloo, IL and a 1990 graduate of Central Missouri State University where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial Safety. Prior to attending the Alabama Military Academy Officer Candidate School in 1992 he served 4 years active duty and 5 years in the National Guard enlisted. He graduated from OCS and was commissioned in 1993.
Upon completion of the Signal Officer Basic Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia, MAJ West was assigned to A Co, 131st Signal Battalion, Dora, AL where he served as Platoon Leader. He then transferred to A Co, 711th Signal Battalion, Atmore, AL where he served as Platoon Leader and Co Executive Officer. He was then transferred to B Co, 711th Signal Battalion, Grove Hill and Chatom, AL where he served as Det Commander and Executive Officer. Major West then assumed command of B Co, 711th Signal Battalion, Grove Hill, AL from 2000-2003. MAJ West then served as the Company Commander of A Co, 711th Signal Battalion during deployment to Hillah, Iraq, OIF II, and during redeployment, 2004-2006. He also deployed with the unit to support the disaster relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina and Rita, Slidell, Louisiana. MAJ West was then assigned as the Executive Officer, 711th Signal Battalion from 2006 to 2007. After completing a tour as the Executive Officer, MAJ West was assigned to and currently works at the Simulation Center, Pelham Range, Joint Forces Headquarters, Alabama Army National Guard.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Combat Action Badge.
